How to make a gazebo out of pallets?

Wooden pallets for transportation of pallets with all kinds of cargo have long been aroused heightened interest among summer residents and people living in the private sector. And this is not surprising - after all, in capable hands these products turn into a full-fledged building material. The cost of such used pallets is simply ridiculous, and it happens that they, in general, are given away for free. What of them just do not design: and garden houses, and fences, and gazebos of various styles. Everything is limited only by the flight of fantasy and the desire to sculpt something on your country site.

Almost every summer cottage has a gazebo, and the variety of such buildings is simply huge. There are small and large, of different shapes and design options. Someone orders ready-made facilities, and someone builds himself from the available materials.

But it all depends on the budget, and if there is no money to build a gazebo from classic building materials, then it is possible to use alternative and very inexpensive materials, such as wooden pallets.

What pallets are suitable for the construction of gazebos?

There are several types that differ in material quality and dimensions. With thick curved boards, on which bricks and cement are usually transported, except for firewood, and varieties with thinner planks are just what you need. Especially popular for parsing on material europallet. It is of very good quality, but it has its drawbacks: it concerns its disassembly. Often there are used nails that are not so easy to pull out. The nail puller will not help here, but using a small hatchet to pull the hammer out will not be difficult.

What types and sizes of pallets exist:

  • standard - 1200x1000x140 mm;
  • europallets - 800x600x140 mm;
  • Euro pallets - 800x600x140 mm;
  • increased euros - 1200х1200х140 mm;
  • thickness may vary in amplitude from 120 to 144 mm.

Preparatory work

First of all, you need to make a plan and drawing, what kind of gazebo will be, what size and what shape. Where garden furniture will be located, and what dimensions it will be. Calculate how much and what material is required, purchase everything you need.

There are a lot of self-tapping screws, so it’s better to buy them with a margin; they will not be superfluous on the farm.

Pallets purchased for construction need to be prepared:

  • Inspect for damage, check for strength, then select the best. The rest can be disassembled into boards.
  • Clean from contamination and wane.
  • Pallets and individual boards from parsing need to process a grinding machine.
  • Wood needs protection from moisture, fungus and pests. To do this, it must be treated with a special antiseptic solution. If this is not done, the tree will darken and acquire a not very beautiful gray color, and will also rot.
  • It is better to paint the wood immediately, and not after the gazebo is ready. Waterproof paint for wood will do, and if you want to leave the natural wood color, you can use wood stain. After dyeing, it is desirable to coat with waterproof lacquer.

The more qualitatively the wood is processed, the longer the structure will retain its beautiful appearance. Prepare the right tool. To clear the place where the arbor is planned to be built, from debris, bushes and high grass.

What tools will be needed:

  • saw;
  • hammer;
  • ax;
  • grinder;
  • jigsaw;
  • screwdriver;
  • drill and drill bits;
  • brushes;
  • roulette;
  • level;
  • pencil.

It is better to use a power tool, it will save energy and greatly facilitate and speed up the work.

Construction works

The construction of the gazebo is divided into several stages:

  1. foundation;
  2. frame installation;
  3. wall cladding;
  4. roof;
  5. painting and decoration;
  6. decor

Foundation

To gazebo served for many years, it is necessary to make the foundation of the desired size. If the soil is not very swampy, and the area of the building is small, then you can simply put the concrete blocks 200x200x400 mm.

When building a more capital structure on the problem soil, it is better to pour a finely tape.

One of the most popular technologies for laying the foundation is considered to be pile, which is divided into two types. In total there can be three options for the grounds under the gazebo.

Concrete piles

It is not very difficult to make such supports for the future structure, but it will take some time for the cement mortar to set.

First, digging holes 20x20 cm and 50 cm in depth. Then they put a formwork of roofing material, scraps of boards or suitable material that is not a pity. The armature is pressed into the bottom of each pit, approximately 50 cm. Then the formwork is poured with concrete. Such piles should have a height of about 30 cm from the zero level.. After pouring the mortar, wait for a while until the mixture is completely solid.

Screw piles

Quite a new way of building foundations, well proven in clay and swampy soils. Everything is simple. Piles of the required size are bought, it remains only to screw them into the ground and screw or weld heads to them.

Shallow tape

For loose soils and gazebos of a large area, you must fill the tape. For the device of this type of foundation around the perimeter it is necessary to dig a trench with a depth of 50 centimeters and install a formwork from the boards along its edges. Next in the trench of the reinforcement is the construction and concrete is poured, mixed with small stones.

Concrete screed must be watered from time to time during the week.. The time of complete solidification of such a tape is about a month.

When constructing any kind of foundation, it is necessary to use a level, and the perimeter must be marked with a thread fastened to the pegs. This will prevent unevenness in the position of the structure

Frame

First, the base of the frame of the timber is mounted along the perimeter of the foundation and is attached tofoundation anchors. It should be made of the highest quality materials, since the floor is the highest load. Next you need to fasten the beam strapping.

Then mounted vertical supports, which are mounted on top of the transverse tie boards and beams. Do not use nails to mount the frame, as over time the design will be loosened. Screws are considered more reliable fasteners, as well as other hardware, such as anchors and corners of different types.

Wall cladding

Wall cladding can be done in several variations:

  1. The easiest option is to completely open the walls. The design provides only the roof and floor, and there are no walls. But such a structure does not protect from the wind, and therefore is not particularly popular.
  2. The pallets are mounted in two rows in such a way that the second row does not transmit light that passes through the slots of the first layer. With this method, the construction of the walls of the three sides are deaf, and only the front part of the building remains open. This option is suitable for those who love the shadow and darkness.
  3. Only the back wall is sewn up, and along the sides pass the railing with a height of 800-1200 mm depending on the position of the pallets.So, if installed horizontally, the height will be 800 mm, and with vertical mounting it will be 120 mm. When arranging such handrails, pallets are attached first to the base, then they are evenly tightened with each other.

Roof

The roof can be made of several types: single, gable or chetyrekhskatnuyu in the form of a pyramid. Which one to do depends on the design of the gazebo and on personal wishes.

For obreshetki used 50x50 mm bars and planks. All this can be taken again from pallets.

After it is required to cover the roof. Here, too, there is a variety of options, because there are many materials for roofing, eg:

  • metal tile and professional sheet - very good and durable materials, but the first one looks more beautiful;
  • ondulin and shingles - soft, but also quite durable materials;
  • polycarbonate - suitable for those who need light transmitting roof;
  • boards from pallets - the most budget option, with this technology, the boards are laid overlapped with a Christmas tree.

Painting and decoration

After the gazebo is ready, she needs to give a beautiful appearance. Paint the desired color. If the pallets and planks were painted at the preparatory stage, then it will be necessary to finish painting something that is not painted, for example, vertical supports.

If there is such a skill as wood carving, you can decorate the walls with various patterns, but this should be done before painting and processing with antiseptic. And also they use a blowtorch, lightly burn wood with its flame, which gives its structure a heterogeneous, slightly burned shade, and then it is coated with stain and varnish. It looks very impressive. But this procedure can be carried out only on a pure tree, while it has not yet been processed by any chemistry.

Decor

To give comfort and beauty built gazebo, you can use a variety of techniques. In the cavities of the pallets you can make flower beds, build beautiful lanterns in such a way that a soft unobtrusive light comes out of the glades. It looks very fascinating, as if the walls are illuminated from the inside, while the lighting devices themselves are not visible.

If there is a brazier, you can decorate it with heat-resistant tiles or stones, hang small paintings and other furnishings, and make LED lighting around the perimeter of the gables. Open places can be closed with a camouflage net, or even better plant grapes around the gazebo. When the vine grows, it will not only look beautiful, but also cover it with its shadow from the sun.

Furniture is also included in the decorative elements, without which the gazebo will seem just a canopy from the rain or sun. First of all, you need a table and seats.

You can, of course, use standard furniture, which is no longer needed at home, but there is an option to make the so-called garden furniture from the same pallets. They make beautiful tables, benches and even chic corner sofas that you just need to cover and place the pillows.

Making a table is very simple. One pallet is taken, its upper part needs to be fully sheathed with planks, and on the sides, from the inside, legs are made of thick, treated boards. And instead of legs you can also make a table base in the middle, then you can remove the tabletop, which makes it easier to carry the table.

Corner sofa being built is also not very difficult. The required number of pallets is taken and placed on top of each other in the required area, and to make the back, you need to put several pallets vertically, select the desired angle of inclination and fix, and the gap between the seat and back formed by the inclination can be closed by the board.

      Sofa swing for giving. This is also a very simple design, which consists of two or four pallets, fastened together by strapping from a 10x10 bar or board 40 mm thick. The surface is also covered with smooth plates.

      A reliable chain or rope is fixed to each of the edges, which are attached to the ceiling by beams provided for such a swing in advance.
