How to change a light bulb in a false ceiling?

Over the past ten, fifteen years, the installation of lamps in the suspended ceiling has found wide application. These ceiling structures are attached to the curtain ceiling of the apartment. Such a halogen lamp in spotlight can be either quickly connected or removed. This will be discussed in this article.

Before installing the suspended ceiling, a frame is assembled from wooden bars or from metal profiles, which are directly mounted to the concrete or wooden ceiling of the room. Between these two ceilings (main and suspended), due to the assembled and fixed frame, a free space of up to 10 cm is formed. The electrical wiring for connecting future lighting and the main elements of the light source are hidden in this empty space. To connect lamps and various sources of light in such a ceiling, special holes are made. A distinctive feature of this ceiling is the ability to install built-in lights.

Very often suspended ceilings are equipped with point sources of light, in which, naturally, there are light bulbs. Whoever assembled the design of such a ceiling knows how to replace the light bulbs. Those who have been installed by the company may not possess such knowledge, in this case it is better to call a specialist or find the necessary information on the replacement and try to replace it.

In most cases, the main reason for the replacement is its burnout. And the way to put another depends on what kind of ceiling lighting is provided for you - an ordinary chandelier or lamps.

If in a pendant chandelier one of several lamps has burned out, you should not change it at once. In this variant it is more convenient and safer to wait for the daylight, and in daylight replace the burnt one. And if the need forces to start replacing in the dark, find an extraneous light source, such as a flashlight. You may need pliers and a screwdriver, wear gloves on your hands.

A new light bulb should be on hand so that you can screw it up at any time.

When turning on the light after replacing, never look at the light source, do not stand under it, because there is a possibility of rejecting the light bulb, and when turned on, it may burst.

In the suspended ceiling, four kinds of light bulbs are mainly used.

• Halogen. This view can be installed with the smallest space between the suspended ceiling and the main one. Halogen lamps can illuminate the room quite brightly, and replacing it is a little more difficult than a regular light bulb. Be careful when replacing. The operating time of this type of lamp depends largely on the correct installation. In a household network, frequent voltage drops occur, which do not affect the operation of the light source for the better. For this, it is recommended to use voltage-stabilizing devices.
• Conventional incandescent bulbs. Each of us knows these products since childhood, and changing them is not difficult and knowledge. But conventional lamps have one major drawback, they quickly heat up and therefore do not fit all types of suspended ceilings.

• Fluorescent lights. This type of lighting, even despite their high cost, is widespread. They are very economical and consume the least amount of electricity, and their lighting characteristics are much higher than previous samples. Have a number of negative qualities - products with hot startlight up slower than other analogs, have a limit on the number of inclusions, shutdowns, and they contain mercury vapor, which further complicates the process of disposal.
• LED bulbs. More economical and long-lasting option for this type of ceiling. Their brightness sometimes exceeds the similar characteristics of luminescent products. The operational period of LED lamps reaches 72,000 hours of production, with a conventional lamp only 1000 hours.

When changing different lamps, it is necessary to take into account that they use two types of cap. The first is with the usual right-hand thread and is used for the classic cartridge. How to change a light bulb with this kind, most of us know. The second option is a G-shaped base with different types, the lamps are installed using the existing two pins. These pins perform a guiding function, and strong anchoring occurs after a characteristic click.

Three options are used to attach different sources of lighting, and the change is carried out in different ways. Before replacing a blown bulb, you must turn off the power and prepare a solid base on which to stand. This may be a stepladder or stool. It is necessary to start replacement only when it cools, otherwise there is a risk of getting burned.

1. First mount - standard. It occurs by twisting the lamp into the cartridge. To replace it, you just need to unscrew and tighten the new one to the end.
2. Two pin mount - This mount is inherent in halogen lamps, they are held with the help of two metal guides. To replace, you need to unlock the lock - holding the lamp with one hand, the other at this time, bend the retaining ring. Then they take out a light bulb and insert a worker. After a characteristic click lock the lock. For this procedure, the suspended ceiling does not require disassembly, the retaining structure of the lamp does not get out of the hole.
3. Special cartridge. This mount prevails in fluorescent and LED lighting devices.When replacing, as in the previous version, remove the latch, take out the glass and unscrew the light source. This cartridge when changing to rotate ninety degrees.

Before replacing this type of lamp, first, if necessary, remove the cover or frame. Then holding the cartridge, unscrew the bulb counterclockwise.

It is better to wrap a cracked lamp and get it out of the cartridge, while trying not to look at it, in order to avoid splinters in the eyes. If the lighting device exploded, the remaining glass is also removed using any soft cloth, and the base is unscrewed with pliers. Fluorescent or energy-saving lamp, unlike incandescent bulbs, has a fluorescent tube. It is very easy to change such a light source, there is a choke near the base, and with the help of this device it is easily pulled out.

There are some tips for replacing a lamp in a false ceiling:

1. Provided that the design of your ceiling provides for the presence of yellow LED lamps, but this lighting is not enough for you, get the standard white ones. The lighting level will immediately increase, but the amount of electricity consumed will remain the same.
2. To increase the life of the lamp do not take it with your bare hands, when replacing it is better to use cloth gloves.
3. Always remember that stretch ceilings can not withstand the effect of too powerful lamp. To prevent damage to the ceiling, use lamps with a power not exceeding 35 watts.
4. For the perfect effect of transmitting lighting to the ceiling in the same room, use light fixtures of the same design. Thus, you will achieve not only the right lighting, but also an attractive appearance in the interior. And if due to some circumstances you cannot find the one you need, change them all.

If halogen lamps are provided for your suspended ceiling, great effort will be required to replace them. Such lighting devices have a number of advantages: they do not blind and have a well-perceived soft and pleasant light. The life of such lighting devices is not more than five years, but it is much longer than that of a conventional lamp.

When replacing, it is necessary to stop the power supply and carefully remove the restraint device that secures the light source. Reaching the cartridge, unscrew the faulty and change to a new one. Then put the mount and securely fix.

Change any light bulb, no matter what kind, does not require special experience and knowledge, in this process there is nothing complicated. You may encounter only one problem when replacing - you may not be able to find a suitable model.

When replacing lamps on a stretch ceiling, always follow these rules:

• always turn off the power supply to the lighting device;
• need to ensure the integrity of the wiring and reliability of contacts;
• always consider what voltage they are designed for;
• in case of mechanical damage to the fluorescent lamp, it is necessary to thoroughly clean up the remaining traces when breaking from the walls and ceiling, because they contain mercury vapors;
• if the halogen lamp is not pulled out, then it is better to get the whole lamp, after which it can be easily removed;
